This year Jewish Voice for Peace launched campaigns to support Palestinian human rights defenders in Bil'in, Israeli anti-occupation artists in Tel-Aviv, and students pushing for ethical investments in Berkeley. And in the last week, we've inspired protests against illegal home demolitions at 23 offices of the giant pension fund TIAA-CREF. Now it is time for us to come together to take the movement to the next level. You won't want to miss it. Please come to my hometown, Philadelphia, for 2 1/2 days of workshops, political discussion, panels and community conversations on March 11-13, 2011. We will gather as a movement of Jews and allies calling for human rights and equality for Israelis and Palestinians alike. We will have an opportunity to connect, support, and inspire one other for the struggle ahead. To be eligible to attend, you must join or renew your membership for 2011. If you join or renew now by going here, your dues will cover you through 2011. We'll send you details about the conference later. Come to the National Member Meeting in Philadelphia and brush up on your activist skills, participate in political discussions – with movement leaders like Ali Abunimah, Jonathan Shapira, and so many talented JVP activists – and find out new ways to plug into JVP’s work. Experience the excitement of the new, growing JVP – with chapters on campuses and cities across the country. Registration for the meeting will begin in early January – watch your e-mail for updates. I hope to see you here in Philly, Jesse Bacon Jewish Voice for Peace |
